Emma Pope attended Bob Jones University for three years and left in May 2022. This is a fundamentalist Christian college in Greenville,SC. This school is notorious for lifting its interracial dating ban in 2000! Emma was born into a non-religious family, but was recruited into fundamentalist Christianity through a local church. This involvement got her connected with “The Wilds Christian Camp” where she met BJU students. This is a Christian camp well known in conservative Christian circles. She felt peer pressure to conform to fundamentalist ideology and her friends convinced her to attend Bob Jones. In this episode, she talks about how she became aware of the indoctrination and toxicity of BJU.
