In Matthew 13, Jesus tells a couple of stories in which he compares the kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed and yeast. These stories are part of a continuing theme of imagining the kingdom as small and sometimes insignificant items. These stories are reminders that kingdom work and movement is often not seen in the grand and overwhelming, but in the small, consistent and mundane.
**SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THE PODCAST**
Continuing through the end of July 2021, the podcast will include two episodes a week. The first each week, usually on Sunday afternoon, will be a recording of the sermon from that day's worship service. This is in lieu of the live streaming and other online content we have had since March 2020. We want to resume the livestream later, perhaps as early as August 2021, but the livestream setup we had before now was unsustainable, so we plan to use the rest of the summer to create a plan that we can maintain for the long run.
The second podcast each week will be the regular podcast episode that you are used to, usually an interview or conversation. That will now be released on Wednesday morning each week.
So please enjoy today's sermon now, and come back on Wednesday morning for the regular podcast.
