Description

In this episode I talk about living in emergency mode for too long, and how it has a lasting effect on our psyches, our personality, our attitudes about life and people, and how we choose to become either more or less selfish, more or less kind, more or less robust, empowered, and more or lessĀ  enriched in our lives. Then I'll talk about how we might fight this phenomenon. We can't always change our workaday life circumstances right away, but there are ways to enrich ourselves emotionally and intellectually, ways to explore our passion and freedom, and ways to make our lives have more value and meaning than the sum total of how our job or humdrum life makes us feel. Then, I'll talk about a close personal friend who died, how it's making me sink into a rut, and how I choose to see and process it, and what we can do to learn from life's more grim harshness, from mortality, and from gritty "unmagical" realism. Rest in peace Emidio, I love you, you were a fun and special guy, and I will miss you friend. I'm sorry things ended the way they did.
