The Edmonton Oilers almost let two points slip away last night in the third period but managed to hold on and secure the win in a shootout over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Heading into the third period, the Oilers held a 4-2 lead over Vegas. Sam Gagner opened up the scoring in his return to the lineup with his third of the year in the first period. In the second, Edmonton scored three, with Mattias Janmark getting his first goal of the season, along with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane.
However, the Golden Knights never went away. Mark Stone and Mike Amadio scored in the second period, and then later in the game, Ben Hutton and Keagan Kolsar scored to send the game into overtime. Overtime would solve nothing, though, so in the shootout, McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored to give the Oilers the win and two points.
