Liminal Gallery Podcast host, Louise Fitzjohn, speaks with artist Damien Cifelli during his solo exhibition 'Tarogramma'. Damien Cifelli is a multidisciplinary artist from Edinburgh, now based in London. His work explores a fictitious land named Tarogramma. Referencing the scale and compositions of history paintings and historical sculpture, he has built a detailed culture with its own aesthetic, way of living, and understanding of the world; one that is at once alien, and eerily similar to our own. The paintings are a visual representation of this alternative society - documentary images of a new world.
Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Hidden Door 2022’ in Edinburgh, ‘Tarogramma’ Hackney Downs Studios, London in 2022, ‘Damien Cifelli x Wolf and Badger’ Netil House, London in 2022 and ‘Tarogramma Archive’ at Dundas St Gallery and Italian Cultural Institute, Edinburgh, 2019. Selected awards include Saatchi Art ‘Rising Star’ 2022 and Dazed x Gap New Generation 2020. Cifelli has been announced as a top 10 finalist for the UK New Artist of the Year Award with several works selected for a week-long exhibition at London’s prestigious Saatchi Gallery.
Damien Cifelli's solo exhibition 'Tarogramma' continues at our new permanent home at 34 Fort Hill, Margate, CT9 1HD until 30th October 2022. The Gallery is open Thursdays 11-4pm, Saturdays 11-3pm and outside of these times by appointment.
