Description

Marius Barnard was a top level professional tennis player specialising in doubles mainly and beating names such as Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Marat Satin and Goran Ivanišević to name but a few.

He won 6 tour titles and was an 8 time tour finalist. He reached the Quarter Finals at Wimbledon as well as The Australian Open. So a pretty punchy CV to say the least.

Marius is now an Executive Coach, EMCC Global, Senior Practitioner utilising a whole range of methodologies including Positive Intelligence. He supports CEOs directors and managers to improve their performance with tailored development programmes and managing their work pressures with self-belief, optimism and resilience.

So knowing all of this about Marius it only made sense we got together and recorded this in-depth podcast about the mental side of the game of life.

He is passionate about helping people and this comes across tremendously well on the show. We discuss his playing days and the big lessons he learnt. How he lost at match with 17 match points and how this match changed his course and trajectory.

Marius specialises in helping high performers in pressure situations and he gives some wonderful tools and tips in order to keep more grounded and present when the pressure may be at its highest. We discuss the mental well-being side of high performers and how it’s all about striking the right balance to produce the best performances. We also discuss the concept of flow and how to try and get closer to this state in all we do.

As always we take so many varied routes and pull on different threads in the show today and it feels like there is more to discuss so look out for a part 2 hopefully coming in the near future.

Thank you to Marius for his time today and I hope you enjoy what he has to say as much as I had interviewing him.

Please enjoy.
