On the show today I have Paralympic sprinter Souleyman Bah

Souleyman is an incredibly guy and his story is well worth hearing and learning from.

He left his home country of Guinea as a 5-year old child largely down to the fact he has a rare condition called retinitis pigmentosa. An eye condition that causes a progressive loss of vision. He cannot see out of his right eye, and has partial vision in his left eye.

We take so many inspiring routes in this chat and he brings things to life with some beautiful, thoughtful and amazing analogies. I was sitting here getting goosebumps many times over and am so thankful we have had this chat and that you are listening to it now.

We talk about how at a young age the initial talent he showed as a sprinter and how it became a little too serious too early with the coaches and environment he was in. We discuss how to get the balance right with this attitude and mentality in modern sport.

We talk about his journey through the True Athlete Project and how this was a saviour for him at 19 years old.

We also go on to discuss some specific tools for athletes such as nerves and anxiety, failure, what success actually is, habits to create high performance, reframing, plus many other deep and interesting topics.

I have come away left feeling so inspired from his words and the way he perceives life. With all the difficulties and struggles he has had in his life he could easily have been the victim and had the “why me?” story as his narrative. But he tells us how he is able to use the struggles in life as an advantage and how to then have a platform to get his message across and inspire others.

I am sure you will be inspired by the conversation today so sit back and please welcome Souleyman Bah…
