With over 30 year's experience in infrastructure commercial roles and many of those years in senior roles the basics of doing the clever commercial 'stuff' should now be a given; it now gives me a sound base to approach some bigger issues that the industry faces when attempting to deliver contracts:
• I want to see the industry moving into a truly collaborative environment that uses the contract for good and win-win and importantly not used for ‘playing not to lose’.
• I also want the industry to move from ‘problem solving and reactive’ to a more ‘creative and innovative’ and thus proactive environment.
• I am absolutely passionate about bringing youngsters through; be it Graduates or Apprentices and am always looking at ways to do this.
It is the responsibility of the experienced industry leaders to approach these issues as it actually makes our job easier!
Me personally, I am an enthusiastic, tenacious and passionate hands on leader that to maximise results practices relationship building in all areas of role, from clients to supply chain to people, to this end I believe greatly in behavioural management and actively use this day to day.
