Saying "NO" in Medicine: The Ethics of Speaking Truth to Power

In this episode of the Black Doctors Podcast, we explore the ethical implications of saying "NO". With recent news of a nursing strike in NYC, what is the ethical and appropriate way to say, "enough is enough"?

Dr. Steven Bradley, our host shares several personal stories in which he said, NO. Listen and share your thoughts! Below are three tips for saying NO:

1. Be assertive: Clearly and confidently express your inability to take on additional work, and provide a valid reason for your refusal.
2. Offer alternatives: If possible, suggest alternative solutions or individuals who may be able to take on the extra work instead.
3. Prioritize your workload: Make sure to prioritize your existing responsibilities and prioritize what work is most important to complete.
