Hey there cool cats and kittens!Today's episode is with Simi - we've known each other for over 13 years and spent some of our most seminal life moments together. Having gone to Leeds University to study Graphic Design, she decided in her second year to do her 'year in industry' in Amsterdam. After getting fired from her original job after just 3 weeks, she landed herself an internship at The Student Hotel, which is a new kind of hybrid hospitality that offers student accommodation as well as hotel rooms. When completing her final year they got back in touch to say a Managing role had opened up. So before even graduating she decided to uproot her life and move to work in Amsterdam and has been living there ever since. In today's discussion, we discuss the different ways Amsterdam is handling the covid crisis compared to the UK, feeling imposter syndrome in the workplace, using this time in lockdown to gain some clarity and find her purpose and accidentally going on a "couples romantic holiday" with her brother.... right after a breakup.....whoops. This week is Mental Health Awareness week and I hope this episode can contribute to the conversation - Simi was so incredibly candid, open and honest about her experiences with mental health, in particular last year when she suffered from job burnout and recognised in herself that she needed to seek help. Hopefully her story will empower you guys to know you are not alone & that there are easy ways of seeking help.Edited by the amazing Noam Motzeri.https://www.thestudenthotel.com/
