THE LOST RIOTS and LEFT BY THE HOPE OF THE STATES: Reviewed!
We Ves Y Sufres. This is a Hope of the States live special is what it is, really. But it’s also the 19th episode of Season 4 of the show. It’s also a pre-Christmas-special special Christmas episode. It is one of the last episodes of 2024. It is the first episode for which the new website is LIVE AND READY TO ROCK AND ROLL: https://www.cccappraisalhour.show/

Ok so … this is two childhood friends discussing one of their favourite bands. We’re unleashed here. This could be the start of a whole Hope of the States series. This could be the start of a whole HOPE OF THE STATES PODCAST! EUREKA! But no ok wait, let’s just breathe for a moment shall we … for now, it’s just … an episode. One single (HOW DARE WE) episode. Coinciding with the afterglow of our attendance of their London reunion show 18 years since they last played here, we review their two albums. They only made 2 albums. This podcast is a time capsule if ever I’ve seen one. I don’t know how I’m going to go another week of my life without talking about Hope of the States ever again. I can guarantee that (even though we kinda cover their entire album-discography in this episode) this won’t be the last time you hear us mention them, that’s for damn sure. Brian Eno famously said “the first Velvet Underground album only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band.” I think a similar inspirational energy emanated from the first 6 year run of HOTS. Well, I hope that despite the scant listens we garner here at CCCAH HQ every week … every one who listens to this episode, starts listening to Hope of the States ... and starts their own podcast!

Corrections: Their wikipedia correctly states that they were initially active from 2000-2006, not 2000-2004.
Allusions were made to a “beef” between the frontman of the band Sam Herlihy and guitarist for the band Anthony Theaker. Anthony is not presently playing in the band.
Please listen to Hope of the States. All hum always.
