Description

In the first episode of the WM People podcast, Ben Falk (editor of workingdads.co.uk) and Mandy Garner (editor of workingmums.co.uk) discuss what’s been happening with flexible working for parents and childcare in the last two weeks.

Ben and Mandy start by discussing how access to childcare impacts working parents and the kind of work they're able to do, as well as how the demand for childcare has changed since the pandemic and during the cost of living crisis.

They then move on to overworking and changes to the working week structure. Some industries are better at accommodating part time work and incorporating the four day working week than others, so they discuss their approach to portfolio working in their industry and whether flexible working will become more common as more people reach burn out.

Finally, they look at the proposed changes by the Women and Equalities committee that were rejected by the government this week, including work leave for people experiencing menopause.

Get in touch with Ben and Mandy through WM People. They'll be back in a couple of weeks.
