Originally broadcast March 31, 2023. I was thrilled to welcome Cory Starr of Tiki Tatsu-Ya , all the way from Austin, Texas to the show! He's got a great list of tracks to share with you to get you ready to rock the weekend!
Originally from Arizona, Cory has traveled the country working in many bars and restaurants. Notably, Starr spent five years working his way up at The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. It was during his time there that he began to fall in love with Tiki drinks, their culture and nuance, as well as the vast beauty and bounty of the Hawaiian islands. Seeking to advance his drink knowledge, Starr moved to Chicago where he became a bartender at the award-winning Three Dots and a Dash.
Starr has also participated in many beverage competitions, where he has amassed several bartending victories including at the Annual Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival, Four Seasons Hundred Mile competition and others. Alongside Tatsu-Ya beverage director Michael Phillips and Tatsu-Ya sake sommelier Bryan Masamitsu Parsons, Starr has created some of the most creative tropical cocktails in Austin!
