In the latest episode of the FILMS I OWN BUT HAVEN'T WATCHED YET podcast, a special spin-off from WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST, I dive into another film from my ever-expanding DVD collection. This week, I kicked off a special Star Trek Week where I review one of the movies from the original series each day. Today, it's "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." Join me as I watch it for the first time and share my review!
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982): Directed by Nicholas Meyer, this film is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Star Trek franchise. The story reintroduces the iconic villain Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalbán), a genetically-engineered superhuman who first appeared in the original TV series episode "Space Seed." Now, he returns seeking revenge against Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and the crew of the USS Enterprise. When Khan seizes control of the starship Reliant, he embarks on a vengeful quest that puts the entire galaxy at risk. The film explores themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the passage of time, culminating in an intense and emotional confrontation. Featuring a powerful score by James Horner and standout performances from the entire cast, "The Wrath of Khan" remains a high point in the Star Trek saga.
