We're headed off to summer camp this week with the Nickelodeon classic, Salute Your Shorts! This show raised a lot of eyebrows and caused a lot of pearl clutching to to its astonishing and accurate portrayal of children. In a world where we'd mostly seen a very sanitary view of what "the youth" was up to, Nickelodeon provided an opportunity for kids to just be kids. That was a lot for the parents of 1990s kids, but for those who were there to enjoy it, it was everything we needed.
