Dr. Erica Montgomery is program director for the University of MIssissippi's Counselor Education department. A strong advocate for equity in mental health, she spends time training others in best practice for delivering mental health services to underserved populations. Her professional focus is in teaching and supervising counselors in training. Dr. Montgomery talks with The Mayo Lab podcast about what depression really is, what causes it, what it looks like, and how to rise above the stigma often attached to it.
