Description

This is the first of two podcasts on Thursday as we had a big breaking news story: the former Commissioner of Police Ian McGrail was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, conspiracy to obtain unauthorised access to computer material related to the McGrail Inquiry, and unlawfully obtaining personal data.

Senior investigating officer John McVea confirmed a 56 year old man had been arrested. The former Chief Superintendent of the Northern Ireland police service flew in to Gibraltar to deal with the data breach at the McGrail Inquiry and has been given a remit by the Governor Sir David Steel to go wherever the evidence takes him.

We sought the reaction of the Leader of the Opposition Keith Azopardi, which you can hear in a separate podcast, but first: Mr McVea joined us live in the studio.
