After a 35 year teaching career, Joy came to creativity later in life via performance poetry. She is now involved in many art forms and has had several residencies, including currently being Creative-in-Residence at Affleck’s Palace in Manchester for the past seven years. She's had multiple documentaries about her story, travelled overseas to perform battle rap, and created comedy with her best friend, the suitably face-tattooed Skully, another veteran of the battle rap scene.
