Description

Woodhouse written by Kath Haling and Katharine Farmer: a musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma that explores what Jane would have said if she was here to say it now, with more freedom to show her characters as stronger and more independent with less of a need for them to seem naive.

Featuring songs ‘Any Wonder’and ‘Say It Again’ performed by Roshani Abbey and Oli Higginson.

Kath Haling (she/her) Book / Music / Lyrics

Kath is an Australian born musical theatre composer and playwright. Current and future projects include Sunshine (book, music & lyrics) currently in development with Perfect Pitch/Global Musicals. The Least We Could Do (playwright),directed by Katharine Farmer scheduled for a 3 week run at The Hope Theatre Islington in October 2023, Woodhouse (co-adaptation of book, music & lyrics) currently in development and Saving Helen, Georgia (music & lyrics) currently in development. Past projects include: ‘Until Then’ (music and lyrics) with Jack Reitman and Chris Jarosz; Hush (music & lyrics) with Leo Miles and Erico Montes, Benjamin Ella, Harry Churches & Giacomo Rover, In The Dark (music & lyrics) with Merryl Ansah, Ice Cream (playwright) finalist in Short & Sweet Festival Sydney. @kathhaling

Katharine Farmer (she/her) Director / Dramaturg

Katharine Farmer is the Artistic Director of The Playwright’s Laboratory and has directed at venues such as Arcola Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, The Other Palace, Warwick Arts Centre, and The Theatre Chipping Norton and has three plays available to download on Digital Theatre. Most recently, Katharine’s production of Never Not Once at Park Theatre received 4 and 5 star reviews from national press such as The Guardian. Katharine also develops musicals, having recently directed the English-translation workshop of Korean musical Red Book. Previously, Katharine held an O-1 visa and was the Director of International Programming at Rubicon Theatre Company in California, during which time Katharine directed 8 productions, all of which were Critic’s Pick in The LA Times. @katharinefarmer
