It is a pattern of events that a hero typically goes through on their journey of self-discovery and transformation. Here are some of the classic steps with our fitness twist on it. - The call to adventure represents the moment of psychological crisis or change that prompts individuals to begin their journey of self-discovery.
- Refusal of the Call: The hero may initially refuse the call due to fear or a sense of inadequacy.
- The refusal of the call may represent fear, self-doubt, or lack of motivation that can hinder progress towards your goals.
- Meeting the Mentor: The hero encounters a mentor or guide who helps them prepare for the journey ahead.
- Meeting the mentor can represent finding a personal trainer or fitness coach who can provide guidance, support, and accountability.
- Crossing the Threshold: The hero leaves their ordinary world and enters a new, unknown world.
- Crossing the threshold represents entering a new world of fitness and health, which may include new habits, routines, and challenges.
- Tests, Allies, and Enemies: The hero faces a series of challenges, makes allies, and encounters enemies who test their strength, courage, and character.
- The tests, allies, and enemies represent the obstacles and challenges that individuals face in their fitness journey, such as plateaus, injuries, or lack of social support.
- Approach to the Inmost Cave: The hero approaches a dangerous or mysterious place where their ultimate goal or quest lies.
- Ordeal: The hero faces their greatest challenge, which requires them to confront their deepest fears and weaknesses.
- The ordeal represents the moment of breakthrough or transformation in the fitness journey, such as achieving a significant milestone or overcoming a personal limitation.
- Reward: The hero emerges from the ordeal transformed and rewarded with some new knowledge, insight, or power.
- The reward represents the sense of accomplishment and confidence that comes with achieving fitness goals and the benefits to overall health and well-being.
- The Road Back: The hero begins their journey back to the ordinary world.
- The road back represents the process of maintaining fitness progress and avoiding relapse into old habits.
- Resurrection: The hero faces one final test that allows them to fully integrate their newfound knowledge and power.
- Return with the Elixir: The hero returns to the ordinary world, bringing back the elixir, or the treasure they obtained on their journey, to help or inspire others.
- The return with the elixir represents the integration of fitness habits and values into daily life, leading to a sense of greater wellness, vitality, and resilience.
It's important to note that not all hero's journeys follow this exact sequence or include all of these steps, and some may have additional steps or variations. However, this structure provides a framework for understanding the common themes and patterns found in many hero journey.
