THE SONG:

Jolene was written by Dolly Parton and released in 1973. According to Dolly, the song was inspired by a red-headed bank clerk who flirted with her husband, Carl Dean, at his local bank branch around the time they were newly married. In 2021, Rolling Stone listed Jolene as #63 of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Olivia Newton John created an in-studio duet of Jolene with Parton. The duet was released as part of Newton-John’s first posthumous album, Just the Two of Us: The Duets Collection.m Jolene - Video
