Jobs. Daughters. Greek Yogurt. Hardworking, single, mother of two, Kathleen takes a little time out of her hectic day to consider why she still cares for her ex, which of her daughters she is most like and what she really wants for herself in life. From torn shirts to strong cowboys to bad credit, it’s all explored in the Anthem of Kathleen.

THE SONG:
Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne was written by Adam Schlesinger (songwriter and bassist) and Chris Collingwood (vocalist). It is the third track on their third studio album, Welcome Interstate Managers, and was released on May 19, 2003 as the album's first single. The single was inspired by Schlesinger’s friend who had a crush on his grandmother growing up. “It’s sort of about that period when you’re first hitting puberty and suddenly everybody of the opposite sex is strangely attractive,” he told MTV. Stacy’s Mom is a blend of New Wave and power pop, influenced by The Cars and Ric Ocasek, as well as classics like Simon & Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson and Rick Springfield’s Jessie’s Girl. The video pays homage to The Cars, from the “I <3 RIC” license plate to one of Stacy’s classmates dressed as Ocasek. Link to OfficialVideo
