We have decided to create a listening experience based on the Doppelgänger. We wanted to create something unsettling with a strange atmosphere, the goal is not to create something scary but something that can create stress. The doppelgänger is a creature who looks like you, a double of yourself. It’s a creature from German and nordic folklore and mythology. It’s a double with bad attention who can be a sort of twin or another self that is in you, like in The Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. We choose to use the form of a child, an innocent person that normally we protect but here it’s of him that we want to escape.
The sound is here to go with the sensation and emotion we wanted the listener to feel. We have also placed the idea of temporal loop and dream that comes with a personal mental space shared between the two doubles.
