The podcast is about how we received, seen or imagined what getting older feels like. This is a text about living with the thought of dying, very close to you.
This is about how you lived your life, maybe not as you thought it would be. It’s about being ignored or left behind, feeling dead while you still hear the clock ticking and ticking. It is about looking at the past, living the moments over and over again, a constant loop, in which you must live in to carry on.
The synth is the memory, the past. The ticking is unstoppable. The warm, soft, ancient music, the comfort of the life you used to live in. The bird clock, a reminder to live in the present, even if it’s the same bore as yesterday: the family dinner, the same silence. This is an unfixable thought machine.
And then, death? Or, is it an after life? Do we ever die? The body is rotting, but is it the same for the soul? The music is scratching, bells are ringing, worms are crawling, flies are feasting. Will we ever be remembered?
This podcast is really inspired by the work of The Caretaker, Everywhere at the end of time. It’s a very long ambient/music/artistic project about the feeling of living with Alzheimer's disease.
For the sounds, we mainly recorded it by ourselves, but some of them were found on free sound effects online websites like youtube or BBC sound effects.
