On this episode of Evolve Mind Body & Soul, host Ellie Barrett talks about how our miraculous bodies heal after a bruise, cut or broken bone, and how we should be fuelling it correctly.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Our bodies are miraculous, they’re also physical representations of us, each scar tells a tale – physical and emotional – and each illness and disease is a physical manifestation of what is going on in our mind and a result of how we feed our bodies. What we put into our bodies really matters, unless you have such a joyful outlook and disposition that you can transmute the energy of poor diet choices, but that’s a whole different podcast for another day!
- If you had a petrol car you wouldn’t put diesel in it because it wouldn’t run, it would break it. That’s like our bodies. Every day we make choices to fuel our beautiful bodies with stuff that, most of which, is not designed for human consumption, it’s designed in a lab. You may or may not be surprised that most of what you find in the supermarket does not nourish your body like it’s supposed to.
- Our intuition is our inner guidance system that shows us the way, the inner feelings of what feels right or wrong for us as an individual, the silent inner nudges guiding us to take a chance or make a different choice. I believe our intuition is something we’ve been conditioned to ignore over the years so that we can be sold to and misguided for profit.
- Our bodies have evolved over thousands of years to thrive on natural whole foods that our ancestors consumed: fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and lean meats provided the necessary nutrients for our bodies to function optimally. Fast forward to now and our diets have massively changed, we’re now bombarded by highly processed convenience foods that are loaded with preservatives, artificial flavours, an excessive amount of sugar, and unhealthy fats. As a result, our bodies are struggling to cope with these foreign substances which is leading to a range of health issues.
BEST MOMENTS
‘Our bodies are continuously growing, changing and adapting to our surroundings and to the things we put in it.’
‘There are many additives in the food and drinks that you find readily available on the shelves of your local supermarket such as sugar-free drinks for example which contain aspartame, which is known to contribute to causing cancer.’
‘It’s not just the processed foods that we need to be wary of but also the pesticides and chemicals used in conventional farming. These toxins find our way into our food and ultimately into our bodies.’
‘Start reading labels and educate yourself about the ingredients in the products that you consume regularly, look for natural organic alternatives where possible, support local farmers and businesses that prioritise the use of sustainable chemical-free farming practices.’
