Ammon wanted to convert the Lamanites and turn them from their wicked ways. Except, they weren't that wicked, and introducing Ammon's god would make it worse for anyone who chose to decline. If everyone gets to hear the gospel in Heaven, why can't the Nephites just leave other cultures alone?
