Imagine being at a music festival with your mates, then having to flee for your life. You might have seen the videos of what happened at a festival in Israel this weekend. In the early hours of Saturday morning, a Palestinian militant group attacked festival goers at the Supernova festival in Southern Israel. In response, Israel fought back and now over 1500 people have died on both sides.
It’s Mary here with our next episode of Noted: This was an attack that was years in the making. But why did this happen? To understand that, we need to know the history. I speak to The News Movement’s Lucy Marley about the long-standing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. Why has it erupted now?
And I’ll be bringing you stories from Tammy, a member of the Israeli Defence Force and Yara, a Palestinian journalist, to hear the impact of this shocking violence.
Give us 15 minutes and we’ll take you through some of the things that will help you understand how we got to the October 7th attack.
