Why can’t sex workers have an Instagram account?
My guest this episode is Reed Amber, a sex worker, educator, anti-shamer and activist. Reed has worked in the adult industry for over 10 years, and has built a huge audience for her sexy content, campaigns about loving your own sexual body, AND a podcast called F**ks Given.
But social media makes life difficult for her — blocking her accounts, promoting trolls and restricting her ability to grow an audience and work. All because her theme is sex. Based in London, Reed told me all about what censorship feels like, and how her community is fighting back.
