My guest in this episode is Dr Jozef Shaw. Joe works in a hospital in London, practising sexual health, HIV and general internal medicine. He’s used to seeing patients with genital symptoms, giving them treatment, and then sending them home. But there’s so much that’s missing from this medicalised approach to sexual health...
So Joe tells me his big idea for holistic services around sex, that include fighting infections of course, but also therapy, conversations about relationships, and even more support around pleasure. There are chronic funding shortfalls and political tensions over sexual health; all the more reason to reimagine how we do it, no?
