Génesis 28: No sabía que Dios estaba conmigo.
Vamos a leer la segunda parte de este capítulo pero no olvides leerlo completamente.
Génesis 28:10-22:
10 Jacob partió de Beerseba y se fue hacia Harán. 11 Y llegó a cierto lugar y pasó allí la noche, porque el sol ya se había puesto. Tomó una de las piedras de aquel lugar, la puso como cabecera y se acostó en aquel lugar. 12 Entonces soñó, y he aquí una escalera puesta en la tierra, cuya parte superior alcanzaba el cielo. He aquí que los ángeles de Dios subían y descendían por ella. 13 Y he aquí que el SEÑOR estaba en lo alto de ella y dijo: —Yo soy el SEÑOR, el Dios de tu padre Abraham y el Dios de Isaac. La tierra en que estás acostado te la daré a ti y a tu descendencia. 14 Tus descendientes serán como el polvo de la tierra. Te extenderás al occidente, al oriente, al norte y al sur, y en ti y en tu descendencia serán benditas todas las familias de la tierra. 15 He aquí que yo estoy contigo; yo te guardaré por dondequiera que vayas y te haré volver a esta tierra. No te abandonaré hasta que haya hecho lo que te he dicho.
16 Jacob despertó de su sueño y dijo: —¡Ciertamente el SEÑOR está presente en este lugar, y yo no lo sabía!
17 Él tuvo miedo y dijo: —¡Cuán temible es este lugar! No es otra cosa que casa de Dios y puerta del cielo.
18 Jacob se levantó muy de mañana, tomó la piedra que había puesto como cabecera, la puso como señal y derramó aceite sobre ella. 19 Y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Betel, aunque el nombre antiguo de la ciudad era Luz.
20 Jacob también hizo un voto diciendo: —Si Dios está conmigo y me guarda en este viaje que realizo, si me da pan para comer y vestido para vestir, 21 y yo vuelvo en paz a la casa de mi padre, el SEÑOR será mi Dios. 22 Esta piedra que he puesto como señal será una casa de Dios, y de todo lo que me des, sin falta apartaré el diezmo para ti.
Jacob siguió las instrucciones de sus padres, él fue a buscar a sus parientes y de ahí debía encontrar su futura esposa, de la misma forma que Abraham hizo con Isaac; contrario a Esaú que se casó con cananeas.
Jacob salió huyendo de la ira de su hermano que lo había amenazado de muerte, pero antes de salir Isaac confirmó sobre Jacob la bendición de Abraham sobre él.
Jacob se fue con solo un bastón y algunas provisiones para el camino; y cuando llegó la noche, Jacob, confundido y sin saber qué hacer, tomó una piedra como almohada y reposó después de tantas emociones vividas. Puedo imaginar las tensiones que vivió, y que posiblemente estaba exhausto, triste y sintiéndose solo, desamparado.
Entonces, Dios se le manifestó por medio de una visión. ¡Dios le mostró una escalera que va de la tierra al cielo, en señal de que Dios estaba con él allí!
Qué hermosa lección para nosotros. Si nos sentimos como Jacob, cruzando un desierto sin saber a dónde ir o qué hacer, tenemos a Dios Todopoderoso rodeándonos con un ejército de ángeles, proveyéndonos de protección, y también dándonos el mensaje que Dios quiere que conozcamos acerca de sus propósitos divinos para con nosotros y nuestras familias.
Fue tan impactante esta experiencia celestial que Jacob cambió el nombre de ese lugar que antes se llamaba Luz que traducido es Almendro, y le puso Betel, que significa Casa de Dios.
Jacob tuvo un encuentro genuino, personal e íntimo con Dios.
En ese momento Jacob dió una gran declaración. Él hizo un pacto con Dios y reconoció que, si Dios le da protección, le suple de sus necesidades básicas, y le permite regresar a la casa de sus padres, entonces el Dios de sus padres sería su propio Dios; y no solo eso, sino que seguiría el acto de fe que su padre Abraham hizo, de dar los diezmos de todo. Esto es algo significativo porque Jacob reconoció que la acción de fe de dar el diez por ciento de sus bienes es algo que agrada a Dios, especialmente viniendo de alguien que le gustaba mucho el dinero y hacer negocios.
Esto fue un acto de fe porque él no tenía nada pero se comprometía a hacerlo confiando en que el Señor cumpliría su promesa de bendecir a la simiente de Abraham.
Si eres un joven o alguien que está yendo a la iglesia o te llamas cristiano solo porque te criaste en una casa cristiana y solo lo haces como una buena costumbre, hoy es el tiempo para que hagas un pacto con Dios directamente, que proclames como Jacob: “EL DIOS DE MIS PADRES AHORA SERÁ MI DIOS”.
Simplemente abre tu corazón a Dios y sentirás la presencia de Dios; abre tus ojos espirituales y verás al Señor deseando que te comprometas con Él directamente, entregando tu vida, tu futuro, tus planes y tu porvenir al Señor.

Genesis 28: I did not know that God was with me.
We are going to read the second part of this chapter but don't forget to read it completely.
Genesis 28:10-22 NLT:
Meanwhile, Jacob left Beersheba and traveled toward Haran. At sundown he arrived at a good place to set up camp and stopped there for the night. Jacob found a stone to rest his head against and lay down to sleep. As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.
At the top of the stairway stood the Lord, and he said, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants. Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions—to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”
Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!”
The next morning Jacob got up very early. He took the stone he had rested his head against, and he set it upright as a memorial pillar. Then he poured olive oil over it. He named that place Bethel (which means “house of God”), although it was previously called Luz.
Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing, and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the Lord will certainly be my God. And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.”
Jacob followed the instructions of his parents, he went to look for his relatives and from there he had to find his future wife, in the same way that Abraham did with Isaac; contrary to Esau who married Canaanites.
Jacob fled from the wrath of his brother who had threatened him with death, but before leaving Isaac confirmed to Jacob the blessing of Abraham on him.
Jacob left with only a cane and some provisions for the road; and when night came, Jacob, confused and not knowing what to do, took a stone as a pillow and rested after experiencing so many emotions. I can imagine the stresses he went through, and that he was possibly exhausted, sad and feeling lonely, helpless.
Then, God appeared to him through a vision. God showed him a ladder that goes from earth to heaven, as a sign that God was with him there!
What a beautiful lesson for us. If we feel like Jacob, crossing a desert not knowing where to go or what to do, we have Almighty God surrounding us with an army of angels, providing us with protection, and also giving us the message that God wants us to know about his divine purposes for us and our families.
This heavenly experience was so impressive that Jacob changed the name of that place that was previously called Luz, which translated is Almond tree, and he named it Bethel, which means House of God.
Jacob had a genuine, personal and intimate encounter with God.
At that time Jacob gave two great statements. He made a pact with God and recognized that if God gives him protection, He will also provide him with his basic needs, and allow him to return to his parents' house.
Jacob declared that the God of his fathers would be his own God; and not only that, but he would follow the act of faith that his father Abraham made, of giving tithes of everything. This is significant because Jacob recognized that the act of faith of giving ten percent of his assets is something that pleases God, especially coming from someone who was very fond of money and doing business.
This was an act of faith because he had nothing but he was committed to doing it trusting that the Lord would fulfill his promise to bless the seed of Abraham.
If you are a young person or someone who is going to church or you call yourself a Christian just because you grew up in a Christian home and you just do it as a good habit, today is the time for you to make a pact with God directly, that you proclaim as Jacob : "THE GOD OF MY PARENTS WILL NOW BE MY GOD".
Simply open your heart to God and you will feel the presence of God; open your spiritual eyes and you will see the Lord wanting you to commit yourself to Him directly, surrendering your life, your future, your plans and your future to the Lord.
Scrutinize:
Read verses 20 to 22 and personalize this verse. Renew your commitment to the Lord, putting your name in place of Jacob.
