Génesis 31: Dios honra tus votos.

Génesis 31:17-32:
Entonces Jacob se levantó e hizo subir a sus mujeres y a sus hijos sobre los camellos. Luego condujo todo su ganado y todas las posesiones que había adquirido, el ganado de su propiedad que había adquirido en Padan-aram, para ir a su padre Isaac en la tierra de Canaán. Labán se había ido a esquilar sus ovejas, y Raquel hurtó los ídolos de su padre. Además Jacob engañó a Labán el arameo al no decirle que se iba.
Huyó, pues, Jacob con todo lo que tenía. Y levantándose cruzó el Río y se dirigió a la región montañosa de Galaad. Al tercer día le informaron a Labán que Jacob había huido. Entonces tomó consigo a sus parientes y fue tras él en el camino, por siete días, y lo alcanzó en la región montañosa de Galaad. Pero aquella noche Dios vino en sueños a Labán el arameo, y le dijo: “Ten cuidado, no sea que hables a Jacob bruscamente”.
Alcanzó, pues, Labán a Jacob, quien había instalado su tienda en el monte. Y Labán también instaló sus tiendas en el monte Galaad.
Entonces Labán dijo a Jacob: —¿Qué has hecho? ¡Me has engañado al traer a mis hijas como cautivas de guerra! ¿Por qué has huido a escondidas, engañándome, sin avisarme? Yo te habría despedido con alegría y cantares, con tamborín y con arpa. Ni siquiera me has dado la oportunidad de besar a mis hijos y a mis hijas. Ahora pues, has actuado locamente. Yo tengo poder para hacerles mal, pero el Dios de tu padre me habló anoche diciendo: “Ten cuidado, no sea que hables a Jacob bruscamente”. Y ya que te ibas definitivamente porque tenías tanta nostalgia por la casa de tu padre, ¿por qué me has robado mis dioses?
Jacob respondió a Labán y dijo: —Yo tuve miedo, pensando que quizás me arrebatarías a tus hijas. La persona en cuyo poder halles tus dioses, que muera. Reconoce en presencia de nuestros parientes lo que yo tenga que sea tuyo, y llévatelo. Jacob no sabía que era Raquel quien los había robado.
Jacob utilizó métodos ingeniosos para tratar de aumentar el rebaño, Dios lo hizo prosperar como le prometió de que sería bendecido.
Dios miró la injusticia que sufría Jacob, pues su suegro le cambió el salario hasta 10 veces. Por eso Dios miró el gran esfuerzo y el trabajo duro que hacía Jacob, y por eso permitió que él fuera bendecido en gran manera. También Dios decidió que era tiempo de que él regresara a casa.
Recuerda que Jacob había hecho un pacto con Dios de serle fiel si Dios lo protegía del mal, supliría todas sus necesidades y lo haría regresar a su casa, la casa de sus padres. Hasta el momento Dios honró el voto de Jacob cumpliéndole sus peticiones. ¡Dios lo guardó, le dio lo que necesitaba y hasta le concedió adquirir riquezas! Por eso Dios le habló en sueños y le dio la orden de regresar a casa.
Jacob tomó una decisión basada en el miedo, pues temía que su suegro hiciera algo en contra de él o su familia, él se fue sin decirle a su suegro Labán. Esta fue una decisión equivocada, pero aun así el Señor se manifestó dándole protección, al aparecerse en sueños a Labán, advirtiéndole que tuviera cuidado con la forma en que tratara a Jacob cuando lo viera. Jacob hace un trato de paz con su suegro, y al fin lo deja ir sin problemas.
Esta es una hermosa lección de perseverancia y de fidelidad. Jacob fue fiel al Señor y el Señor fue fiel a su promesa. Aunque Jacob todavía tenía muchas cosas por cambiar de su forma de ser, el Señor fue paciente con él y lo fue guiando y, a la misma vez, corrigiéndolo y perfeccionándolo.
Espero que hoy podamos meditar en la forma en que Dios obra en sus hijos. Aunque cometas errores, tú y tu familia han estado en las manos de Dios todo el tiempo. Él ha sido paciente para que juntos vivamos vidas dedicadas a Él, y en el camino, Él ha estado moldeándonos, corrigiéndonos y perfeccionándonos
con su Palabra, con su Espíritu Santo.
Cuando entregaste tu vida al Señor y le pediste que Él sea siempre el centro de tu vida, el Señor te ha guardado, te ha protegido y te ha bendecido, supliendo toda necesidad y llenando tu casa de abundancia.
Si te comprometes con el Señor y sigues fiel al Señor, Él honrará tus votos.

Vuelve a leer el verso 24, usa el método llamado PARAFRASEARLO, y repite este verso con tus propias palabras. Piensa en las palabras del Señor al defender a Jacob.

Genesis 31: God honors your vows.

Genesis 31:17-32:
Then Jacob rose and set his sons and his wives on camels. And he carried away all his livestock and all his possessions which he had gained, his acquired livestock which he had gained in Padan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan. Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel had stolen the household idols that were her father’s. And Jacob stole away, unknown to Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he intended to flee. So he fled with all that he had. He arose and crossed the river, and headed toward the mountains of Gilead.
And Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled. Then he took his brethren with him and pursued him for seven days’ journey, and he overtook him in the mountains of Gilead. But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”
So Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountains, and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mountains of Gilead.
And Laban said to Jacob: “What have you done, that you have stolen away unknown to me, and carried away my daughters like captives taken with the sword? Why did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me, and not tell me; for I might have sent you away with joy and songs, with timbrel and harp? And you did not allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters. Now you have done foolishly in so doing. It is in my power to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.’ And now you have surely gone because you greatly long for your father’s house, but why did you steal my gods?”
Then Jacob answered and said to Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Perhaps you would take your daughters from me by force.’ With whomever you find your gods, do not let him live. In the presence of our brethren, identify what I have of yours and take it with you.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.
Jacob used clever methods to try to increase the flock, God made him prosper as He promised him that he would be blessed.
God saw the injustice that Jacob suffered, because his father-in-law changed his salary up to 10 times. That is why God saw the great effort and hard work that Jacob did, and that is why he allowed him to be greatly blessed. God also decided that it was time for him to return home.
Remember that Jacob had made a covenant with God to be faithful to Him if God would protect him from evil, supply all his needs, and bring him back to his home, the house of his fathers. So far God has honored Jacob's vow by fulfilling his requests. God kept him, gave him what he needed and even allowed him to acquire riches! That is why God spoke to him in a dream and gave him the order to return home.
Jacob made a decision based on fear, fearing that his father-in-law would do something against him or his family, he left without telling his father-in-law Laban. This was a wrong decision, but even so the Lord manifested Himself giving him protection, appearing in a dream to Laban, warning him to be careful how he treat Jacob when he see him. Jacob makes a peace deal with his father-in-law, finally letting him go safely.
This is a beautiful lesson in perseverance and fidelity. Jacob was faithful to the Lord and the Lord was faithful to His promise. Although Jacob still had many things to change in his way of being, the Lord was patient with him and was guiding him and, at the same time, correcting and perfecting.
I hope that today we can meditate on the way that God works with His children. Even if you make mistakes, you and your family have been in God's hands all along. He has been patient so that together we live lives dedicated to Him, and along the way, He has been molding us, correcting us and perfecting us
with his Word, with his Holy Spirit.
When you gave your life to the Lord and asked Him to always be the center of your life, the Lord has kept you, protected you and blessed you, supplying every need and filling your house with abundance.
If you commit to the Lord and remain faithful to the Lord, He will honor your vows.
Scrutinize:
Reread verse 24, use the method called PARAPHRASE IT, and repeat this verse in your own words. Think about the words of the Lord in defending Jacob.
