Meditation could be viewed in a sense as a process of uncovering or bringing forth something that is sometimes hidden or obscured by distractions such as sights, sounds, memories, and a wandering mind. This is akin to brushing away dirt to expose the object or purpose of meditation. Or to drawing, where the mind first visualizes and conceptualizes an image, then brings it forth into form. The process can start with a rough sketch, which may be quickly done to convey an idea, or it could involve refining and adding detail over time to perfect the image.
