From childhood Janice Allen Jackson unknowingly was drawn to local government administration. She also found a passion for the beauty of nature and the notion of being high on sunshine. She holds her parents in high esteem and self-confidently walks through life in integrity, the foundation of her identity. A family friend taught her a valuable out-of-the-box lesson that you keep going despite others who say what you cannot do.

She successfully pivoted from government service to being self-employed, which requires a different skill set. Because she shifts while praying daily, career-wise she does not regret anything that has happened and stands on Romans 8:28. She believes that there is a better way and that she was called to God’s intended purpose. She knows that she works for God. This dynamic leader noted that a challenge is to set self aside to realize that everything is not about you. What is in the best interest of the organization and to those to whom we provide services?

Janice Allen Jackson is a management consultant; podcaster; and speaker. She is Principal of Janice Allen Jackson and Associates, LLC, where she provides management consulting services to local government and non-profit organizations. She has served as Administrator of the consolidated Augusta, GA government, Assistant County Manager of Mecklenburg County, NC, and City Manager of Albany, GA.

A native Augustan, Mrs. Jackson graduated from the Academy of Richmond County, the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and Duke University.

Since March 2020, she has hosted the Local Matters radio show and Podcast. Local Matters is designed to build citizen engagement and to help listeners become more confident voters. Mrs. Jackson is an active member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, the Rotary Club of Augusta, and a Diamond Life member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was inducted into the Academy of Richmond County Hall of Fame in 2023.
