Welcome to Season 2 of Formula Fools! In this episode, David and Skin dive into one of the weirdest traditions in motorsport—F1 car launches. From bizarre liveries to strange promotional stunts, we’re unpacking the most bizarre and hilarious car launches in Formula 1 history!
David takes us through the bizarre 2007 Honda RA107 Earth Car, which launched with zero sponsors at the Natural History Museum. Skin gets confused by McLaren’s Spice Girls-inspired 1997 MP4/12 launch, and we look back at Sauber’s 2004 launch, which featured dancing pipes and the Sugarbabes. Then, we talk about BAR F1’s controversial 1999 launch that showed off not one, but two liveries to promote tobacco brands.
And of course, we round things off with a game of “Livery Lies,” where Skin has to guess which F1 liveries are real and which ones are total fabrications.
