As a reserve soldier, Gili Giyat’s mobilization unit has now returned from Gaza. However, his 20 year son remains there as an active duty soldier serving in a special unit. Knowing first hand the dangers and risks to his son, my conversation with Gili explores the conflicting relationship between a father’s love and concern for his son’s safety & wellbeing, with the acceptance that it is his son’s duty to serve and protect his country and its people.
