As most of you are aware we launched #wheresmyclinic Campaign earlier this year for an NHS Menopause Clinic for Devon. Well we wanted to know more about what a good NHS menopause clinic looks like and how a successful one runs. So in this episode we speak to two GP’s and Menopause specialists, DR Clare Spencer and Dr Lindsey Thomas who run a Menopause Clinic in Leeds. We look at Lou’s blood test results to determine testosterone levels and oestradiol absorption and Binding Globulin! We continue with this month’s foodie theme #cookforukraine with a delicious soup.In the book collective we take a look at books that have a place in our hearts and life.We begin our WI and discuss autism awareness in girls. Currently people in Devon have 120 mile round trip to Poole or Bristol, thats if they can even get an appointment. Most people in Devon, that we speak to, aren’t even aware that there is such a thing- but there are actually 29 NHS menopause clinics across the UK, You can look at the British Menopause Society Website to find your nearest one, and if you don’t have one in your county go to our website https://menopauseclinicfordevon.co.uk/2022/02/10/welcome-to-wheresmylinic-menopause-clinic-for-devon-campaign/ where you can use our template letters to ask your local MP and Clinical Commissioning group why not?Dr Clare Spencer is co founder of My Menopause Centre https://www.mymenopausecentre.com/ A specialist online Menopause Clinic. She currently runs an NHS menopause service and is a GP partner in a practice in Leeds. She is also a British Menopause Society menopause trainer and is involved in educating GPs about the menopause transition through talks, lectures and seminars.Dr Lindsey Thomas has worked as a GP for the last 16 years, in a large inner city practice in Sheffield, She is a registered British Menopause Society Specialist , with their highest level of training; the Advanced Certificate and also a Accredited Menopause Trainer, helping others to develop a specialism in this area.Lindsey works with Clare in the NHS menopause Clinic in Leeds as well as working at https://menopausecare.co.uk/Together we chat about Menopause clinic referrals, complex health issues and why someone might need specialist support, we find out how they both came to work in this field, their thoughts on the so called ‘Davina affect’ and the Oestrogel shortage. They are wonderful supporters of our Campaign and tell us why it is important to have more accessible NHS menopause care in all counties of the UK. You will love this conversation as we do.  You can find Clare on Instagram @mymenopausecentre and Lindsey at @dr_menopause In the Book Collective we reflect on books from our lives. What is your favourite childhood book? What book did you read and want to love but didn’t? We both share our favourites and the ones that we just didn’t love at all.Our Foodie continues with our #cookforukraine with a vegan Borscht made by Jinty it’s a warming bowl of goodness especially served with a vegan crème fraiche. https://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-recipe/easy-borscht/ In our WI this month we are going to begin a free course through Future Learn, understanding autism. We talk about the different traits for girls and boys with autism and how girls so easily slip through the net, especially with societal bias about how girls and boys are expected to behave. We still require testimonials for our campaign for an NHS menopause clinic in Devon, we would love to hear your stories both good and bad.
