Welcome to the next edition of the Leader Manager Coach podcast. Today, Rob discusses the teaching from American philosopher, self-help author, and motivational speaker, Wayne Dyer.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

10 principles from Wayne Dyer

- Be open to everything and attached to nothing. Wayne Dyer says that the more open you are to everything, the more information you acquire on how to get things done in the right way and the more you detach yourself from things like results, the more successful you get since there is nothing holding you back that you are attached to. How can we keep our emotions in check so that we are not attached to what is happening because our mind is focused on something that's not to do with a result? You're just going to have to allow everything to happen that happens.

- You cannot give away what you don't have. We can only give away what we have inside us. If we're in a bad mood, we're in a bad place, we are not going to get the best out of people essentially. Try to give the best that is in you and stop exaggerating on what you don't know.

- What about considering quitting, trying to be a good coach and instead just trying to make a difference. Anything that you're action orientated towards and you've put time into it, you put money into it, up late nights into it, and you've worked tirelessly and you wanted to become that coach. Just try to make a difference to the situation or the person who's in front of you with a word, a demonstration, a discussion, a teaching moment and care about the outcome of that moment, then everything else will take care of itself.

- Don't die with the music still inside you or don't hide your light under a bushel. If you believe you can achieve great things, it's not about comparing yourself with other people, in fact, it's totally opposite, it's about being yourself. Come out of the closet and do your best and with this, you'll become successful in life. It matters not what other people think only matters what you think, then you will be successful.

- Give up your personal history. It's not about the past. It's about now, all the past is gone. Hanging on to the past, talking about the past holds us back from all the all the possibilities that the future has in store for us. It's about just letting go of the past and focusing on the now so that we can move forward

- You cannot solve a problem with the same mindset. If you have a problem and you analyze it, there's a high possibility that using the same mindset that created the problem, you will not get a successful outcome. If things do not resolve, then there has to be another way. The height of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

- Be the change. If you're early for meetings, if you're polite, if you're respectful, if you are calm, if you are whatever it is you want in your people, in the people you influence, then you have to be those characteristics for them to take that on board. It's not words that teach, its experience that teaches.

- Trust in your own ability. Trust in your own divinity. There comes a time when you have to actually believe in what you are and what you've become, develop in what you do and the gap between you and other great people will narrow because you are learning, you are experiencing and you're going through an evolutionary process. Take a step back and don't doubt yourself. Be humble, be prepared to be wrong, be open to everything but attached to nothing but believe in yourself.
