Every now and again an argument seems to arise between staunch defenders of video games as a medium and the high-class snobbery that is the rest of the art world. That debate being whether or not video games are considered art. One thing that I think all of us at Hunting Pixels definitely agree with is that Video Games are art. So when we get into the real meat of the argument it seems to come down to what video games provide. Most people who disagree with the idea of video games as art point to games such as Super Mario for their lack of artistic expression and pure entertainment value. While we can argue about that at some other juncture, there is one thing that argument leaves out and that is the wealth of video games that have told and are telling, impactful stories based on moral, philosophical, political, and down right human stories. And it is thanks to Austin, that we come to discuss some of them for you today and potentially as a recurring topic in the future. What we plan to do, for your listening pleasure, is to discuss one game a piece and break down the more articulate points of its story and design and determine where it sits with us today!
