Description

The year, until relatively recently, has been a little light on the massive AAA releases that everyone clamors for and has mostly been held down by a ton of little indie titles. While there were some big titles sprinkled through the first 5 months of the year, They have been few and far in between. That got us thinking, with AAA games having their time to shine, when do Indie games really get any? There seems to always be heaps of praise on games like Resident Evil 4 Remake and The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom and when Game Of The Year comes around they’ll undoubtedly be sitting at the tops of most people’s lists. This is unfortunate for several reasons, namely because indie games can very often be better and more innovative than the big titles that win the awards. Hell we gave Elden Ring our nod last year (which we fully stand behind by the way), but our top 10 featured the likes of Immortality, Citizen Sleeper, Neon White, Stray, and Cult Of The Lamb. So We thought a great way to answer that question would be to talk about why Indie games are getting their moment in the sun right now and where they can go and maybe even what indie games are going to enter our lists at GOTY this year.
