Marching bands are a big part of HBCU culture, and no one knows that quite like Kalan Hooks. A Kansas City native, Hooks developed a passion for marching bands at a young age after a trip to Arrowhead Stadium in 2013 to see Grambling State's marching band play. From his brief time in the band at Arkansas-Pine Bluff to now working as a trending topics reporter at ESPN, Kalan's made it his mission to share that proud tradition with an even bigger audience. In this episode of "We See You," he discusses that mission and what it looks like to create your own lane as an HBCU storyteller in the media space. He also talks his experiences at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the role his alma mater played in his growth as a journalist.
