Just a reminder that Ronald Reagan literally made college more expensive to stop the rise of an educated proletariat (Said it word for word; go look it up). With the continued rise in student protests and walkouts of graduations across the country due to the ongoing situation in Palestine, our good sis Layan —who was one of those protesting in encampments on campuses like UConn— is back to tell us what that was like, and what ultimately comes next in this movement. We also discuss how protests on college campuses are nothing new, and why students have rarely if ever been on the wrong side of history—from opposition to the Vietnam War and South African apartheid to the war in Iraq and Black Lives Matter protests.
