"Tiffin" by Rukmini Srinivas, is a beautifully scripted book that will brings back huge amounts of nostalgia with its offering of family tales and Indian recipes. It is almost autobiographical in that the author, called "Rukka" by her family and friends, allows you to peep into her house and meet various members of her family, and her friends. You get, through her writing, to experience the places where she lived and the amazing variety of food she cooked and served. The recipes add a special touch to the story of her life. They are linked to specific time periods with which she associates that dish, some from her childhood, some from her days as a young married lady, and others from her time as a doting wife and mom.
The book would be of great interest to those who love reading about different places, India in this case, and different periods of time, from the late 19th century to the present day, and enjoy trying out different types of cuisine.
