The murder of Mandy Rose Reynolds, a 26-year-old woman from Idaho, was solved with significant help from her dog, Titan. Reynolds' body was found burning and 'dead beyond recognition' in a field in Robinson, Texas, on April 5, 2023. The investigation began when police discovered the body next to a white dog that barked frantically and refused to leave the area or allow police to capture it. The next day, a citizen notified animal control, who tracked the dog's owner through a microchip. This led police to Reynolds' residence, where they found all her belongings missing and her home empty. Her car was also missing, prompting a search that led to Wichita, Kansas, where Wichita police encountered Reynolds' cousin, Derek Daigneault, on April 8, 2023. Daigneault fled but was caught hiding in a grocery store. A handgun found in Reynolds' car matched shell casings from the container where her body was burned. Additionally, Walmart security footage showed Daigneault buying a plastic storage container, shovel, and gas can the day before the body was found, with Titan visible in the car. Daigneault was sentenced to life in prison on November 7, 2024, for Reynolds' murder.
