Description

A 10-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being attacked by her family's dog at their residence on Friday, November 1. Despite having a 'loving relationship' and a 'loving bond' with the pet, the dog's behavior was described as an 'out-of-character' attack. The incident occurred within the family's home, where the girl sustained severe injuries from the dog bite and unfortunately died at the scene. Emergency services received a call from ambulance crews at 4:15 PM, and authorities subsequently announced that the dog would be euthanized.

Investigators are conducting thorough inquiries into every aspect of the situation to understand the dog's behavior and why it might have attacked the girl. A bystander intervened to assist the family, and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service responded promptly. A relative managed to secure the dog inside a vehicle before emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The dog was taken into custody by officers and transported to secure kennels.

North Yorkshire Police expressed their condolences, stating that their thoughts are with the girl's family and friends during this difficult time. Officers are providing support to the family as investigations proceed, and they have asked the public to refrain from speculation regarding the incident and to respect the family's privacy. A post-mortem examination was scheduled for Sunday evening,

The identity of the girl has not been disclosed by the police
