Description

The Marlene Warren murder case involves the tragic and bizarre death of Marlene Warren, a 40-year-old woman who was shot at point-blank range by a person dressed as a clown at her home in Wellington, Florida, on May 26, 1990. The case remained unsolved for nearly three decades until a significant breakthrough in 2017. The killer, disguised as a clown, arrived at the Warren residence in a white Chrysler LeBaron and handed Marlene a bouquet of flowers and two balloons before shooting her. The investigation was one of the most extensive in Palm Beach County history, involving numerous leads and suspects, but no one was charged until much later.

In 2017, Sheila Keen-Warren, the wife of Michael Warren (Marlene's husband at the time of the murder), was arrested and charged with Marlene's murder. The arrest was made possible by advances in DNA technology and new evidence. Sheila Keen-Warren had been living under an assumed identity in Washington state before her arrest. Michael Warren, who had married Sheila Keen-Warren in 2002, was also investigated but not charged.

The trial of Sheila Keen-Warren began in 2022, and she was found guilty of first-degree murder. The prosecution presented evidence that included DNA samples, eyewitness accounts, and other circumstantial evidence linking Sheila to the crime.

This case is notable for its unusual circumstances, the lengthy period it took to solve, and the use of advanced forensic techniques to secure a conviction.
