21-year-old Juan Romero pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Adrian Esparza in Wasco. Romero will receive a sentence of fifteen years to life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for December 9th. The shooting occurred on January 19th, 2023, and was captured on surveillance video. Investigators found that the vehicle used in the shooting belonged to Romeros father. Messages uncovered during the investigation showed Romero threatening to shoot Esparza.
