Officials with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada are searching for over one hundred pieces of Indigenous art, part of a federal collection, which went missing during a move in 2022. An audit revealed the disappearance of 132 works, but 12 have since been found, and 20 are reproductions. The majority were part of a loan program that ended in 2017, and artists have not been notified as the pieces are not yet officially deemed missing. Officials emphasize no evidence of wrongdoing and are implementing improvements to prevent future losses.
