A devastating Bora windstorm has swept through the Matanuska Valley in Alaska, leaving thousands without power and causing widespread damage. The storm, with gusts up to seventy-five miles per hour, has resulted in blown-out windows, downed trees, and torn-off roofs. Seventeen people sought shelter at an American Red Cross facility, and many residents experienced sleepless nights. The storm also claimed a local landmark, a twenty-four-foot-tall metal carrot. As of Monday afternoon, over ten thousand members were still without power, with crews working to restore electricity as soon as its safe.
