The Office of Public Works (OPW) provided housing to the former Garda Commissioner in Phoenix Park, following renovations worth €400,000. The property was leased to An Garda Síochána from 2017 to 2025, with an annual rent of €21,000. Labour politician Eoghan Kenny questioned why the rent wasnt reviewed, highlighting the unfairness to the public purse. OPW Chairman John Conlon admitted the oversight but couldnt explain why. Meanwhile, the Public Accounts Committee also revealed a €400,000 waste on a site for international protection applicants in County Wicklow, which was eventually deemed unusable due to wastewater treatment issues.
