Rhode Islands CodeRED alert system is currently down due to a national cybersecurity incident, but the state can still issue emergency alerts through other platforms. The outage follows a targeted attack by a cybercriminal group, which also caused damage to the CodeRED system. Users are advised to update their passwords, especially if they have used the same password on other online accounts.
